A walk on the Cobb, Lyme Regis during a trip down to Dorset to see friends added two more species to my year list today – rock pipit and purple sandpiper. Purple sand was also an addition to my life list.

A trip to Titchfield Haven added 12 new species to the list, bringing the total up to 105. Additions were cormorant, common tern, oystercatcher, Cetti’s warbler, Mediterranean gull, avocet, shelduck, gadwall, black-tailed godwit, jay, sanderling, and Sandwich tern. No sign of Dartford warbler, nor, surprisingly, willow warbler.

At last a break in the wet weather allowed me to get to Otmoor and add a few migrants to my list. A fine pair of whinchat, reed, sedge & grasshopper warblers. Cuckoo, yellow wagtail, sand, house martin and greenshank. Missed turtle dove and nightingale though. My total now stands at 93. (Vince on 86 – in front at last).
